Welcome to the 8th Southern African Shark and Ray Symposium
This year’s symposium will be jointly hosted by the South African Institute for Aquatic Biodiversity and Wildlife Conservation Society, and will be held at the Amazwi South African Museum of Literature in Makhanda, Eastern Cape, South Africa between 15th and 19th September 2025.
About The Symposium
The Southern African Shark and Ray Symposium takes place every two years, gathering researchers (established and early career), conservationists, managers and educators who collectively share their knowledge on sharks and rays in southern Africa. This year’s symposium theme is ‘Spatial management of sharks and rays’.
