Monday, 15th September: Shark and ray MPA workshop
For participants focused on, or with a keen interest in, Marine Protected Areas for sharks and rays, there will be a workshop on Monday 15th September to discuss MPAs for sharks and rays in southern Africa. This will be a combination of informative short presentations and a discussion group, focusing on key aspects relating to MPAs for sharks and rays. The workshop will run from 09:30 until 16:00.

Friday, 19th September: South African Shark Forum
There will also be a workshop on the morning of Friday 19th September, which will build on the Shark Forum meetings led by WildOceans on the final day of the 5th, 6th and 7th SASRS. While the meeting is open to all participants, it will focus on South African shark and ray conservation and management issues. The meeting aims to establish whether there is interest in continuing the South African Shark Forum and in what format; assess opportunities to strengthen discussions between scientists and managers; and identify priority issues relating to the conservation and management of sharks and rays in South Africa.
More information on this workshop will be shared in due course, along with an opportunity to provide your inputs on key topics prior to the workshop.
